About Me

Grant Fjermedal is a Northwest native with a love for this special environment and its wonderful history. A former reporter for the Seattle Times, and former medical & science writer for the Associated Press, Grant has written four books. His book "The Tomorrow Makers" (Macmillan, hardback; Microsoft Press, paperback) about AI, robotics, and the future of humanity was named one of the year's 10 Best nonfiction books by the American Library Association in its Notable Books listings.

A life-long sailor, Grant has earned his Coast Guard captain's license (Master of Inland Waters to 100 Tons), and enjoys sharing his 35-foot sloop with visitors during the summer. He also has a commercial driver's license and enjoys taking visitors on hand-crafted tours in his classic Mercedes of Seattle's awesome waterfront, as well as a tour of the city's Rock & Roll historical sites.
